Furniture Care Guide

Care begins with the product label

Different types of upholstery, finishes and frames call for different cleaning products and methods. Always follow the manufacturer's care label or product-specific instructions first. The general advice below is intended to help with routine care and does not override material-specific recommendations.

Make everyday care a habit

Remove loose dust and debris gently using a soft, clean cloth or a tool approved for the material. Avoid soaking upholstery, wood or cushioning. Wipe spills promptly where the manufacturer's instructions permit, and do not scrub aggressively.

Leather and leather-look upholstery

Leather types and coated alternatives can respond differently to water, oils and conditioners. Check the exact upholstery type before applying a cleaner. Test manufacturer-approved products in a hidden area when permitted, and avoid harsh detergents, solvents and direct heat.

Keep chairs away from prolonged intense sunlight when possible because some materials can fade or change over time. If the care label does not specify a cleaning method, contact the manufacturer or seek professional advice.

Wood and wood-veneer surfaces

Dust gently using a soft cloth, and protect the finish from excess moisture, abrasive pads and concentrated cleaning solutions. Avoid placing furniture immediately beside heaters. Use only care products approved for the particular finish.

Metal bases and fittings

Remove surface dust with a soft cloth. Do not assume that every shiny or plated surface can be cleaned with metal polish; some coatings may be damaged by abrasive treatments. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and keep fittings free of standing moisture.

Routine checks and moving furniture

Check the product instructions for any recommended fastener inspection or adjustments. When moving a chair, lift it as directed instead of dragging it across the floor; use suitable floor protection when necessary. Seek assistance for heavy or awkward pieces.

Cleaning questions

If you are unsure about a material or finish, do not experiment with strong cleaners. Consult the product's care documentation and contact our team with the product name and relevant photos.
